In 1994, the second-year race director-still an active-duty Marine-was the one who convinced Oprah Winfrey to run the Marine Corps Marathon instead of Chicago. When it comes to the race directors, Rick Nealis’s résumé as head of the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) takes on almost mythic proportions. The cost is $200, and the race is capped at 500 participants. It will likely run on similar parts of the marathon course, though full details have not been provided.
The race will start at the same time as the marathon on October 27, 2019.The Marine Corps Marathon will add a new event to its weekend schedule: a 50K ultramarathon.
